This course discusses the usefulness of economic analysis in the study of education and educational policy, including effects of education on equality, equity, and allocative efficiency, public vs. private production of education in a society.

Topics include (but will not be limited to):

· basic human capital theory,
· screening – signalling effect in education (sheepskin effect),
· impact of education on earnings and earnings inequality,
· private and social return to investment in education,
· cost-benefit analysis of educational programs (private and social),
· educational technology in improving education
· computers both in their effect on educational requirements and their potential role in teaching skills.
