Course: ELEMENTS OF CIVIL LAW

The course aims to present basic concepts of civil law, with emphasis to contract law. The syllabus among other include: (i) general principles governing the conditions for the valid conclusion of contracts; (ii) conclusion of contracts by representative (agent), (iii) statute of limitations, (iv) general principles governing performance of contracts and remedies for breach of contracts (e.g. damages, specific performance, avoidance of contract); (v) assignment of receivables and assumption of obligations under contracts; (vi) basic characteristics of main types of contracts (e.g. sale contract, lease contract, work contract, employment contract, custody contract, guarantee contract etc.); (vii) main principles of consumer protection and unfair terms; (viii) marketing law and e-contract law; (ix) basic concepts of land law (e.g. transfer of property and security in rem such as mortgages and pledges), family law (e.g. marriage, divorce) and inheritance law (e.g. wills).
